Wear a Helmet When Riding a Motorbike in Phuket

Authorities in Phuket has said that they will crackdown on riding  a motorbike without a helmet in a bid to reduce the number of riders killed or seriously injured on the island’s road. Many accidents would not have been fatal  had they wore a crash helmet.

Starting on the 1st of July 2010, motorcyclists and pillion riding a motorbike without a helmet will be fined. The helmet law has been announced since 1996 but has not been strictly enforced over the last 14 years. – Phuket Gazette

Another Kind of Fun In Phuket.

Fun in Phuket is not limited to the beaches and nightlife. My family came and visited me and I introduced them to another kind of fun. We have seen lots of fireworks before. But we have not lighted one ourselves. Fireworks and firecrackers are banned in Singapore. There are none for sale and during festive season, organizers who wants to light firework has to apply for a permit from the police.

We bought those fireworks from a supermarket called Supercheap here. Ask anyone in Phuket and they will know where is it. They have a whole loads of it. We had a hard time looking for a venue though to light them as it has to be buried in sand. We did not do that at first and one of it flew sideways. Luckily no one was hurt. Now we know. It was really nice and fun seeing the beautiful fireworks and lighting them yourselves with your loved ones!
